I've been a Tift fan ever since I saw the video for " Virginia "....
Not sure why she's gone solo singer, but when I saw her here in San Diego a couple of years ago, she was quite the little rocker girl.
Reminded me of Maria McKee's younger days.
Her first couple of albums are real good. The last one so much a departure that it didn't do much for me, but still was pretty good.
She's worth checking out.

I listened to her album Tambourine today after replying to your post.It deserves a listen and if you see the CD you should pick it up.The CD was issued on Lost Highway, who signed such acts as Ryan Adams,Johnny Cash,The Jayhawks,Van Morrison etc.I think they put alot into this record. The record was produced by George Drakolias and featured Mike Campbell,Neal Casale(Who is now with the Cardinals)and Gary Louris.I think her and Kathrine Edwards were at lost highway at the same time so they were marketed the same way.Kathrines Back to Me features alot of Lost highways stable as well as The Heartbreakers.Tambourine is a real good listen,I did not hear her latest album, but after her solo apperances it maybe that the labels downfalls and financial problems have caused her to tour solo.

I do enjoy Tift Merritt's music, several songs mentioned above and in addition "Trouble Over Me" and "Virginia No One Can Warn You".

You should certainly go and check her out. i saw her at Iron Horse (and paid for it) in Northhampton MA last winter, she was awesome. I pan to see her again as she is coming back to the area. If you missed her this time don't hesitate next time. She has great voice, great songs and she plays 3 instruments.

I don't know who Tift Merritt is but I'm a big fan of Tiffin/Niffit.
