It's been 40 years and we're still moonstruck

40 years ago today man blasted off to the moon and the rest is history. Did you watch the lift off, moon landing, first step? So much has been learned since that day yet there is much yet to be discovered. I thought we would have been to Mars by now but that still seems to be years away for us.

I stayed at a LaQuinta Inn in Cocoa Beach a couple of weeks ago. It was once owned by the original Mercury 7 Astronauts. My hero's when I was growing up.

I know I shouldn't have these feelings but I'm still wordering if it really happened. The lunar module was so flimsy and like a feather in the wind and would it go through the atmostphere? and I'm finding it hard to think that 1960's technology was advanced enough to actually do a moon landing? I'm sure I'm not the only one who might have doubts on this subject.

Cmon! and they faked five more missions after Apollo 11? and they got everyone at NASA to keep a secret for 40 years. It was just this nations biggest feat ever. They just sent back pictures from the current moon probe from space of the equipment left on the moon. The probe is looking for landing spots for the next landing.

I know, a missle flew into the Pentagon too!

I was a 14 year old Boy Scout at the National Jamboree in Cour D'Alene Idaho.
Since Neil Armstrong was an Eagle Scout, somehow the Scout authorities arranged a video sky link to the command capsule so Neil could say Hi to all of us before the landing. That was cool and impressive for that time

That was real cool Gary, I bet you kids were excited. Heck I would be excited as an adult.

The '60s were so full of monumental memories!!! This was certainly one of them, #1!
From the Beatles on Sullivan early on, to the Moon Landing and Woodstock at then end, Wow! What a decade, never to be repeated.
Glad I was there.
We are living in the future. I'll tell you how I know. I read it in the paper, 15 years ago.
