Ian Hunter, Man Overboard

Incredible to believe that Ian turned Seventy last month, and yet he can still make great records and sound a lot younger than his years. (there's hope for us all eh)
Too safe and rather tame one reviewer describes his new album Man Overboard, well i disagree with that, it's certainly a lot mellower and more reflective than his previous efforts, but it's none the worse for that. Some great lyrics here, to go with some catchy tunes, love the title track, and the homour and honesty of "Girl from the Office", "River Of Tears" and "Flowers" also stand out. This i'm sure is one of those albums that will grow on me and one that i'll be playing a lot in the weeks to come.

Wish i coulda made it to those Hammersmith Mott The Hoople shows in October.
Well the music pours out on the street
Just as clean and cool as a cotton sheet

Country Rock, it's timeless
it's song will never ever age
Country Rock, it's in my bones
and they'll be singing along in my grave

Saw Hunter live a month or so ago and I liked the couple of cuts he played from Man Overboard and I'll probably be picking it up with the added nudge from you, Rog.

Says a lot about the guys commitment when he's still making the trip across the big pond for a tour at his age, now if only some certain other younger guys were as commited to making the same trip this way over the pond.

Ian Hunter use to reside in NY City. None the less he's a class act. Pick up his dvd called Stings Attached. Very cool.
