Upstate NY and New England are lovely in late August, the lakes are just warm enough to take a dip. I spent my youth 'in' Lake George, till I was a wrinkled, blue lipped, prune. Long Island and The Jersey Shore have some of the finest white sand beaches in the world. If you get to The Big Apple, take in a B'way Show, or two. Don't forget that Poco and Richie Furay will be with L & M, in the area (8/21-22-23), and The Richie Furay Band (8/24) treat yourself right.
