First song I learned was a folk song, it might have been "500 Miles"

Then after I mastered the G, C & D chords and learned a few more, I learned "House of the Rising Sun" Boy, that B7 was hard back then!

I'm a retired drummer. The first song I learned with a band was during my freshman year in high school, it was the Monkee's Last Train to Clarksville.

The band -- the underwhelming southern Illinois cover group -- The Step Beyond -- very 60's. For our first gig -- a grand opening of a local gas station -- I remember that I wore a yellow Nehru shirt with a big gold medallion. We also played some Steppenwolf -- Born to Be Wild and Magic Carpet Ride, some Cryan Shames, and of course, GLORIA, Hey Joe, and 96 Tears, etc.

The first song I learned was a classical piano piece and I couldn't tell you to save my life. I hated piano lessons.

But the first song I wanted to and figured out was "Lean On Me" on Piano.

Then when I started playing guitar was "Proud Mary" I think. God that was a long time ago.
Musicians can run this state better than politicians. We won't get a lot done in the mornings, but we'll work late and be honest.
