Thanks Charlie!

I`ve always loved SS Manassas.
I will have to get this when it is released.

I would not buy just for this statement alone. Arrogant bastard!

In the "Pieces" liner notes, Stills waxes fondly about Manassas as "the first steel-guitar-driven country/rock band that any of us can remember...

I agree, Jimohara---pretty arrogant thing to say. And not just a slam at Poco. FBB also has reason to say, "Now wait just a minute..."

I loved the first Manassas (double) album. The second one not so much. I was lucky enought to see them at the old Boston Garden and they were great live. I eagerly await the release of this cd but I was surprised at Mr. Stills lack of memory of Poco ( really the first steel driven country rock band) and left a comment as such on the Billboard page where Mr. Stills comments can be seen.

And Mike Nesmith who issued two fine albums, Witchita Train Whistle and, Magnetic South around the same time. Both with Red Rhodes on PSG.
It always bugs me when Nesmith get's overlooked.

I wonder what Chris Hillman thinks of that comment by Stills?

Besides the Burrito Brothers, Poco, and Nesmith, there was also Rick Nelson & the Stone Canyon Band (with the great Tom Brumley on steel) that started in 1969, as well as the New Riders with Garcia and Buddy Cage.
Life is too short to listen to sh!tty music

Exactly! Hell, even, "Lost in the Ozone" with the amazing Creeper on PSG was out a year before Manassas.

Don't even get me started on Rick Nelson.

Manassas is an easy top twenty album for me (We did this not long ago......) but yeah, SS Needs to have his coffee before he makes statements such as that one.

Next he'll be saying he invented the Internet......

While I have been looking forward to both releases for quite a while (my son works at Warner Music who distribute Rhino) and Manassas was probably my favorite Stills album, I was also kind of surprised/shocked at the remark. I guess all those years of drinking and drugs have affected his memory - in addition to it's effect on his vocal cords.
