Anyone going to the show on Cape Cod tomorrow night? I'll be there (there's another reason you should go).

Cape Cod, August 20, 2009. Under the fog and steaming heat of a pre-Hurrican Bill summer night Kenny Loggins & Jimmy Messina ascended the stage at the Melody Tent on beautiful Olde Cape Cod. Kenny (looking all of 30 years of age) and Jimmy took seats center stage and ran thru several songs with acoustic guitars before switching to electric. The band was outstanding, especially the two sax players who dueled it out on several extended jams. The crowd (I estimate the average age to be about 55) was enthusiastic and there was dancing in the aisle and in the seats. Instead of passing joints and wine around the audience there was Viagra, Flomax and bottled water throughout the crowd. It was amusing seeing all the babyboomers (and I'm one of them) dancing around the tent like it was still 1972. After two hours, with no break, and several encores in the steaming heat L&M left the stage and we all returned to our vehicles and home for one last drink of Metamucil as a night cap and off to bed.
My only regret was that Poco did not open the show. BUT for two (hot) hours Loggins & Messina played just about every song from their catalogue you could think of plus a surprise addition of The Beatles Two Of Us.

DaddyMc, will Poco be opening that show? I'll be waiting for your review. You're going to see an incredible show.

I wish! The Gabe Dixon Band is opening....Dixon plays in L&M's band....

Did L&M play Sailin' the Wind? That is probably my favorite song by them...

Gabe Dixon is a damn good songwriter and a fine keyboard player. He did a short set with his percussionist ( guy uses an old acoustic guitar as a drum) and back up singer. Just the two of them. Hate to break this to you but that was one of the few songs they did not play. But there will be plenty of others. Be Free was a real treat.

I'm ranking this up as one of the best concerts I've seen. Right up there with McCartney in 2005 at the new Boston Garden, Eagles Hell Freezes Over at the Worcester Centrum, Neil Young & Crazy Horse 1990 (or 91 can't remember) at Boston Garden, and Poco 1972 Boston Common. And of course The Beatles 1966 Suffolk Downs Race Track East Boston but then again they are Gods so all they had to do was stand on the stage and do nothing and it would have been the best to me.
