Such sad news about Gregg. I don't know what to say, so I'll share my Gregg Allman story from my book.

Thanks for posting that story Rusty! It's too bad tapes weren't rolling and we could hear that pedal steel and B3 interplay!

Wow! This is a fantastic treat for Poco fans, and what a wonderful tribute to an artist all too close to my heart. And, to hear your personal assessment of Gregg from all those days ago is especially heart warming.

Thank you Rusty. This is a huge reveal and leaves me drooling for more!

There are a few songs that get my foot tappin' EVERY time I hear them. One is Gregg's "I'm No Angel."

He is now...

Interesting. Thanks. Too bad Duane and Berry Oakley also drove motorcycles.

I've probably written these things in other posts over the years so I apologize to anybody who's already read it.

There were 3 Poco concerts that I saw between 1969 and 1971 that made me a Poco fan and still after all these years are 3 of the best concerts I've ever seen.

The first was in July 1969. It was on The Cambridge Commons in Cambridge, Ma. and it was my first Poco concert. I never saw or heard anything like Poco and I was hooked. First time I'd ever heard a Pedal Steel Guitar or a Dobro. That and Richie's voice made me an instant fan.

The second was at The Boston Music Hall a year or so later for a concert that became "Deliverin." Poco and The Moody Blues put on a concert that night that still ranks as the best concert I've ever seen. Poco and The Moodies became my favorite bands that night and still are today.

The third was sometime in early 1971 at Franklin Pierce College in Rindge, New Hampshire. For 2 dollars Jonathan Edwards opened the show. He was followed by The Allman Brothers who played an incredible set that lasted a couple of hours that completely blew me away. I'd listened to the Allman's on record but at that point hadn't seen them. They were incredible but I was there to see Poco and they didn't disappoint. They played their own incredible set and in my opinion topped the Allman Brothers that night.

The concert was in the school gym and I remember during Poco's set some of the Allmans, including Gregg, came out found some chairs on the side of the stage sat and watched Poco's set, start to finish.
