Rusty's Session Career

Postby StevenT » Wed Mar 28, 2018 8:51 am

Has anyone consolidated a list of songs for which Rusty contributed session work?

Just off the top of my head from my CD collection alone:

Pedal Steel on "King Woman" by Buffalo Springfield, 1968
Pedal Steel on "Never Been To Spain" by Three Dog Night, 1971
Dobro on "Glad To Be Going" by Rick Roberts, 1973
Lap Steel Guitar & Vocals on [original] "Across A Painted Sky" by Paul Cotton, 2000

The list must include dozens more? Maybe we'll see in the upcoming autobiography.....

And, this page offers some additional insight:

https://www.allmusic.com/artist/rusty-young-mn0000174317/credits.

For instance, it indirectly identifies:

Pedal Steel on "There I Go Again" by James Gang, 1970
Pedal Steel on "You Touched Me In The Morning" by Rita Coolidge, 1971
Dobro on "Long Tall Cat" by Loggins & Messina, 1972

Although, I'm not sure the web page is completely accurate -- it credits Rusty on a Paula Abdul song called "Spellbound" which sounds nothing like track #2 from Poco's Legend.
