Well, looking at the definition and Steve Ludwig's Top 100 Yacht Rock songs, I guess it's one of my favorite genres. I think it's pretty much the same as the West Coast Sound and Adult Alternative.

Steve Ludwig's Top 100 Yacht Rock songs. ( The only Poco song he lists is Barbados at #91):

Been listening to Larry Lee's first album, Marooned. He went out to LA from the Ozarks in 1981 to record what I'd call a Yacht Rock album, soft and breezy:

Ned Doheny's Hard Candy album follows Maroon on YT. More silky Yacht Rock. Saw him and band open for the Sutherland Brothers And Quiver in the mid 70s. Immediately got the Hard Candy vinyl and wore it out.

Sorry to see that one of my favorite singer-writers passed away in November, Iain Sutherland. A couple months prior, the Sutherland Brothers' eight albums were released as a package. Just $32 at Amazon. Highly recommended for Yacht Rock fans. My thoughts on Iain and other musicians passing in 2019:
