Well, it says there's an 'image' but I can't see any of the images in the signatures. Is it just my computer? Can everyone see these?

Jim...if it says "image" that means the image is NOT displaying. I'll paste the steps I took to get an image up. If you still have trouble, email me and I'll help you offlist.

The [img] function requires a URL for the image. If you find an image on the internet that you want to use...get the URL and use that. Don't know how it works on a Mac but with a PC, right click on the image, select Properties, copy the link showing in "Location:". If you want to use an image stored on your computer, you need to upload it to somewhere on the internet. I uploaded the image I wanted to a photo album on my own MySpace page so that it had a URL address.

Once you've got a URL, click on "User Control Panel"
Select "Profile"
Select "Edit Signature" (side tab) (You'll get a typing box just like you get when you post.)

In the space provided, click the "Img" button and you'll get this: [ img ] [ /img ]
Between the two blocks, insert the URL of the picture you want to use for your temporary avatar.
Like this: [ img ] http://whatever.url [ /img ]

You can also insert any text you like before or after the image, but you are limited to 255 characters, including the [img] blocks and the URL.

Or, email me to arrange for me to upload it for you.

Good luck!!!

I have not tried to put an image up. I'm saying I can't see anyone's images that THEY have placed into their signatures. I see the little 'image' squares but no image. So what is wrong with my computer? Am I missing some software or something? The 'properties' say it's just a jpg image...that should be no problem, but nothing's coming up on my screen. :(

Thanks Randall. Okay, tried it, and everything is checked appropriately.
Oh, well, I guess this means if you put your cursed creepy crawly bug back in there, you won't have to hear me complain about it anymore.
BTW I saw that very same bug the other night; it was one of many which guest-starred in the Sam Raimi movie 'Drag Me to Hell'.

Hi Y'all,

I've just signed on to help out with the new site. Thanks for being patient and also for helping each other out. Seems like a real community around here!

I've just enabled avatars for the site. I must say I'm impressed with the workarounds you folks came up with in the meantime, though...

Have fun!
