You're just lookin' to see if I'm paying attention, lil' brother... The Beatles were, and continue to be, the bomb, there will never be anything like them again (the music they created spans all tastes, all ages, and all time). Not your taste (?) I'll accept that. A short story, going back to the very start. It was 1964, and my Dad had 'had it' with those long-haired, pot-smokin', smelly Liverpoodlians, when along came; Mick, Keith, Brian, Charlie & Bill (OMG, those 'hopped-up' Londoners). After their first appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show, Dad was singing She Loves You all over the house ('hey kids, I really like those Beatles, you keep playin' their music'). Deep down, I think he was just scared of losing 'his' little girls.....

Hello Big Sis` I know you are paying attention ... just stating my opinion, not for every one to agree with. I know your affection for the British Fab Four.
Be more specific???... I had been familiar with 'If I needed Someone' by the Beatles the 1st time I heard Poco play it at a sound check at Wildwood (it was acoustic)about 4 or 5 years ago, I was sitting right in front of Rusty... I told him that they play it better than the original version. the second time I heard the song live they played it with electric guitars and Paul blew the place up. Lyrically, it is a brilliant song... musically the Beatles version is weak and Poco opened my eyes to a great song as they took it to a higher level for me. Drive My Car... weak, sounds like something Culture Club would write Girl...Puts me to sleep Yellow Submarine... Probably the worst song in the Beatles (or anyones) catalog Michelle... see "Girl"
The Beatles were awesome, but I do not have the passion for them. My favorite Beatle tunes: Nowhere Man... great hamonies, great guitar parts Day Tripper... Unmistakable opening riff While My guitar Gently Weeps... Harrison at his best with some help from Clapton And I Love Her... Gotta get a sappy love song in there somewhere The Whole 'Abbey Road' CD is classic
Most songs Poco does are better than the original... Magnolia... awesome song... the original, JJ Cale sounds depressed and possibly on suicide watch. Paul sings it with passion and Rusty adds the unmistakable Steel On the Way Home... the BS version is great. the CSNY version is average. The Poco version is the best. CT

I hear you, Chuckie, and agree about Poco versions of other's music (Magnolia, Cajun Moon, On The Way Home, Dallas, etc.). I love when our boyz fool around at soundcheck with Beatle tunes, like Baby's in Black, Get Back, If I Needed Someone (Poco rock my boat LIVE better than the original Fab Four any time, but then it wasn't easy to hear The Beatles LIVE ever). The Beatles were the bomb, Poco are the A bomb.

Saw them live. They are Gods. Believe it or you're going to go to Hell. May the Gods have Mersey on your Rubber Soul.

Another great version of "If I Needed Someone is by The Hollies...check it out if you care to...two other groups that nail down the song are America and Roger McGuinn

I saw them LIVE 4 times, in just 2 1/2 years of touring Stateside. Hard to believe it was so short lived, but oh they gave us so much.
