Another great artist with a connection to Poco that we've lost. Gregg auditioned for the band in the late 1960s.

Rusty, any stories or background on Gregg that you can share?
Or should we wait for the book?
With courage, strength, faith and hope we will face one day at a time.

Sad news. Check out a recent "Big Interview" with Dan Rather if you can find it. Gregg comes across as a humble and thoughtful guy. Not a huge fan but I certainly like the ABB's Brothers And Sisters album and Gregg's smoky voice. Heard a lot of the double live At Fillmore East with 20 minutes of Whipping Post in college.

Only saw him once, in the 1999 ABB, with Dickie Betts and Derek Trucks on guitars. Had to leave half way through to catch a rare Seattle show by Julian Lennon a few blocks away. Got tired of Trucks' squealing slide anyway.

Speaking of Southern Rock and progressive jam music, Colonel Bruce Hampton, "the granddaddy of jam music", passed away on May 1 while directing the last song of a concert by a band celebrating his 70th birthday in Atlanta. The band included people both he and Gregg have played with, including Warren Haynes and Trucks. Bassist Oteil Burbridge was in Hampton's Aquarium Rescue Unit and the ABB.

My RIP writings (the Hampton interview is pretty interesting):
