It was a pun. Don't you get it? They were from Liverpool on the MERSEY River. Mersey/mercy, get it? Have mercy/Mersey on your soul/Rubber Soul. Get it? It was all a joke. Guess you have to know a bit about the Beatles to get it. I take for granted that everyone knows about the Beatles. Not too smart for a doctor huh?
That should say "WHO can't even spell..." not "That can't even spell..."
Oh, I'm such a wise arse. Aren't you glad you didn't have me for a teacher?

Sorry Doc,
It is obvious that I am not the Beatles enthousiast that you are.
They had their place in time for me and their greatness shines every day that I listen to the oldies radio station in my hometown.
Sorry I did not get your 'pun'

But you'll always be 'my' baby brother, Chuckie. You don't have to be a big Beatles enthusiast, to stay in my heart.

P.S. The good Doc knows lots about the original Fab Four, he rocks.

Hey, is the fact that you mention that you hear them on an "oldies" station a dig at my advanced age? (that was also a joke). For those of us who came of age in 1964/65 The Beatles wrote the soundtrack to our lives and were very influential in how we ended up living our lives. They were more than a rock band. They were (are) a cultural phenomon and it would be difficult (and probably untrue) to say you were not influenced by them if you grew up in that era.
Take notes. There will be a quiz later.

There is a 'Beatles' course at Indiana University that can be taken as an elective course.
Would you be the professor of that course?

No, I am quite retired from teaching and living on Nantucket Island but I would love to have taught that class.

My cousin's daughter took a class about The Beatles, and became a big fan (she's 20).

Thanks MsUP. You're my biggest fan. Don't ever change.

My 24 year old son (living the hippie life in Berkeley, CA) is a hugh Beatles fan also. Guess I raised him correctly.
