Sara Evans Covers Crazy Love

Postby mcdtj » Thu Mar 19, 2020 3:07 pm

Just got a story that country star Sara Evan's, covers Poco's biggest hit on a new album of her favorite songs, Copy That, due out on May 15.

Article says the arrangements of these songs are very close to the originals.

I love her singing voice. It reminds me a bit of Linda Ronstadt: all the power (not all the range, though), but clearly leaning more to country than Linda, whose voice shone in multiple musical genres.

I'm of the opinion that the Poco catalog has many, many potential hit songs if some of these new, young artists could hear them and record and re-release them.
Also, Jack's song from Great Plains, Nothin' I Can Do About The Rain, would be a hit for someone like Keith Urban, imho.

For sure, Wayne. I'm hoping Sara's fans like her Crazy Love cover and decide to listen to the original. From there, it's a short jump to Heart of the Night. And after that, there's a lot of good music to discover.

Are you sure it is Crazy Love by Poco, not Crazy by Patsy Cline? I found her singing Patsy Cline Crazy on youtube. Would really like to hear her sing Crazy Love.

OK, just listened to Sara Evans' cover of Crazy Love. As promised, it is arranged very much like the original. Only the lyrics are changed, from "her" to "him."

All in all, it's just OK. This version of the song won't spend six weeks at number 1 on the adult contemporary chart. There's an emotional pull in Rusty's voice that's lacking here. I BELIEVE "it happens every time," when Rusty sings the song. Sara just sings the words. She didn't put her heart into this one, just her voice.

I'm a big fan of hers, and was really looking forward to hear her sing this song. She can do better.

Evidently, her brother urged Sara to cover Crazy Love. So there's a Poconut in her family!

There's a live version recorded at the Grand Ole Opry that is much better than the version on the "Cover That" album.
