As you know, Steve was "involved" with Judy at the time (played on a few of her records - that's Steve's guitar in the background of "Someday Soon") and of course, wrote several songs about her, including the eponymous "Suite Judy Blue Eyes."
These tunes were recorded sometime after Buffalo Springfield split up, but before CSN (and later Y) got together. That would bring the year to probably later '68 or early '69 by my reckoning.

So, I guess these are the demo's that Jerry Fuentes refers to in his book "Legend" saying that there was a time after Neil announced his intent to depart BS that Steve was spending a lot of his time with Crosby and Hendrix and after doing some session work for Judy he laid down some acoustic stuff in anticipation of going solo...
