MARCH 2011
I’m sitting down at the computer on a stormy, thunder-pounding Friday evening. It’s good to be home. I just got back from a week in Nashville where we recorded five more songs for the new CD. Things are sounding so good I can’t wait for you all to hear them. We cut Jack’s ‘Hard Country’ and my ‘A Little Rain’ during the sessions. The most difficult part of recording a song that people have heard played ‘live’ is that it’s so hard to capture a recording in the studio that has the energy and excitement of a ‘live’ performance. But I think what we captured last week is the sound I always hoped we could bring to life. It was magic! It’s very exciting! If you checked our Facebook page you saw that my old buddies Pat Simmons, Bill Lloyd and John Cowan stopped by the studio. We played ‘A Little Rain’ for them.
I have some really great news for you guys. We’re working with a company in Nashville that arranges for people who are interested in observing a Poco recording session to attend a seminar that guides you through the current state-of-the-art digital recording process. Then the seminar is followed by three days in one of Nashville’s premier recording studios where you’ll stand side by side with us while we record the final tracks for Poco’s new CD. It’s a rare chance to experience just how Poco albums come to life. It’s probably going to happen the weekend of May 20th, 21st and 22nd. We’ll let you know the details once the dates are firm and we get some idea how many of you would like to join us. Let us know what you think.
In the meantime, we have two shows this month back East and we’re on the road every weekend in April. Hope we see you then!
